A Victorian medium sized sterling silver travel drinking flask with removable drinking cup. This is a stunning piece, very simple in design, and top quality. The body is a little more bulbous than some others of this length, allowing for a little more of your favourite tipple to be added. The removable cup also doubles as an added layer of protection to the flask, to prevent any damage to the precious cargo. The metal gauge is very thick making it a durable companion for outdoor, more rigorous trips or activities. A slight design detail that is unusual is the lid. Instead of opening to the side, this one opens to the back once unscrewed.
The flask has full makers marks on the side of the body, and the removable drinking cup for the prolific and highly regarded silversmiths William Gibson & John Lawrence Langman. These silversmiths were one of the larger manufacturers for the luxury English retailer; Goldsmith & Company. This store carried almost everything needed for home and travel, and was on London's luxury retail street, Regents Street. At the base of the cup, the retailers name and Regent street address has been stamped into it.
The lid is a classic bayonet style fitting, secure, and with a cork liner to prevent any leakage. The piece is in excellent condition throughout. Made in, London, England, in 1895.
